Sometimes, along the way we may encounter a person who is wounded and in need of spiritual healing. Like all wounded beings they may lash out causing us to become wounded.
Once we are adults we can withstand some of this without suffering serious damage. Being fully developed, we have a firm grasp on what we believe about our self. But, what if we are a child?
Children have less of a grip on their belief system. What they believe about themselves is mutable. All it takes is someone they trust or want to trust.
- Parents and grandparents
- Older siblings
- Teachers and coaches
- Pastors and priests
Just a casually spoken insult to a child can spiritually wound them and change the course of their life. Most often however, the most significant wounds are the result of continued verbal or physical abuse.
But, it’s not just children who get wounded. Lovers and friends can wound us also. Anyone we let into that private vulnerable place in our heart can wound us.
